Meet Jeff Jones

Air Force Veteran. Bass Bait Specialist. Co-Founder of Barracuda Baits.

If you’ve ever fished a bait and thought, “This could be better,” you and Jeff have something in common.

Jeff is a U.S. Air Force veteran and one of the three founders behind Barracuda Baits. With decades of service experience and a sharp mind for problem-solving, he brings a level of tactical thinking and precision design to bass fishing that sets our baits apart.

For Jeff, fishing isn’t just a pastime—it’s a process. It’s a mix of observation, experimentation, and making smart adjustments to figure out what works and why. That mindset, honed from years in uniform, now powers how he approaches bait development.

The Method Behind the Plastic

Jeff doesn’t sit back and approve designs from the desk. He’s a hands-on builder and field tester, constantly tweaking molds, plastics, and presentations based on real-world time on the water. He’s known for putting every bait through its paces—flipping, dragging, swimming, and skipping until it either proves itself or gets sent back to the drawing board.

Ask anyone who knows him, and they’ll tell you Jeff’s not interested in hype. He wants results. He designs and approves baits that catch fish under pressure, in real tournaments, with real money and pride on the line.

Ask Jeff: Real Advice from a Real Angler

That’s why you’ll see the Ask Jeff logo across the Barracuda site and packaging. It’s not just branding—it’s a stamp of confidence. If Jeff recommends a color, rigging style, or seasonal adjustment, it’s because he’s tried it, refined it, and proven that it works.

Whether you're:

  • Stuck between two colors in muddy water

  • Trying to dial in a fall transition bite

  • Unsure which scent will push a pressured bass to commit

…Jeff’s got your back. His tips are direct, experience-driven, and meant to help you fish smarter—not just buy more gear.

What Jeff Stands For

  • Function over flash – If it doesn’t catch fish, it doesn’t belong in your boat.

  • Precision matters – Size, fall rate, action, and color have a job to do.

  • Don’t just throw it—know why it works – That’s how you get better.

“I’m not interested in gimmicks. If it doesn’t earn its place in the boat, it’s gone. My job is to make sure that when you tie on a Barracuda bait, you know it was built with purpose.”
