Soft Plastic Swimbaits for Bass

Soft plastic swimbaits imitate shad, minnows, bluegill and other baitfish with a profile and tail action that can be fished throughout the water column. They are effective for covering water, targeting suspended fish and working grass, points, docks and open water.

Rigging Options

  • Jig Head: A simple choice for open water, deeper presentations and controlled depth.
  • Weighted Hook: Keeps the bait weedless around grass, brush and other cover.
  • Swim Jig or Bladed Jig Trailer: Adds baitfish profile and tail action to moving baits.
  • Weightless or Lightly Weighted: Useful for shallow water and slower presentations.

Adjust retrieve speed, weight and bait size to match depth and forage. Natural baitfish colors are strong in clear water, while brighter or higher-contrast colors can help in stained water.
