Rock Piles. Ledges. Deep Gravel. Let’s Get Dirty.

The Pig Skin Football Jig by Coda Lures is what you tie on when you’re hunting offshore giants. This jig was designed to be dragged, hopped, or paused along the hardest parts of the lake — and still come back with its hook buried in a bass’s mouth.

The football-style head gives you wide deflection, slow rollovers, and killer bottom contact. That shape keeps the jig upright and sensitive — so you can feel every tick, every shell, and every change in texture while staying in the strike zone.

At the core of the Pig Skin is a brutal 4/0 Owner Jungle Hook — forged, sticky-sharp, and built for long-range hooksets. That hook gap is dialed in to work with full-size trailers from Barracuda Baits without compromising your hook-up ratio.

This isn’t a flashy gimmick bait. It’s a workhorse built with a hand-tied wire skirt that won’t slip, stretch, or rot. The skirt pulses and flares with every hop, giving fish the perfect target when they’re positioned tight to the bottom.

To unlock its full potential, pair it with your favorite Barracuda Baits trailer — from thumping creatures to subtle craws. These jigs and trailers were made to work together. Literally.

Specifications

  • Head: Classic football shape for rock deflection and upright tracking

  • Skirt: Wire-tied hand construction — no slip, no band breakdown

  • Hook: 4/0 Owner Jungle Hook – tournament tough, braid-ready

  • Sizes: 3/8 oz, 1/2 oz, 3/4 oz for all structure depths

When & Where to Throw It

  • Dragging Deep Points: Use the 1/2 oz or 3/4 oz with a Barracuda creature bait to pull bass off isolated rocks or brush piles

  • Hard Bottom Structure: Crawl it slowly with a craw-style Barracuda trailer — let the skirt flare and claws hover just above bottom

  • Cold Water or Summer Ledges: Tip with a chunk or finesse trailer and fish it slow. Let the weight do the work while the skirt breathes

  • Ledge Fishing in Current: That 3/4 oz head stays planted and transmits everything — even light pick-up bites. Trailers with drag, like our flat-bodied creatures, help hold position

Barracuda Baits: Trailer Matchups That Matter

Your trailer finishes the story — and our soft plastics are written to match this jig. Every Barracuda trailer is built to balance action and structure contact without overpowering the presentation.
